Did the log file indicate warnings before it died. For mariadb on Ubuntu, do

tail /var/log/mariadb/mariadb.log
For mysql on Ubuntu, do
Code: [Select]
tail /var/log/mysql/error.log
Restart MySQL from console, do
Code: [Select]
sudo service mysql restart
